1、您如何理解 DeFi 和 NFT 概念？二者的关系是什么样的？

DeFi is the realisation of years of blockchain development on Ethereum. 2020 saw the wider ecosystem achieve a new threshold where the various smart contracts, dApps, and cryptocurrencies are able to interact with each other in meaningful ways. This phenomenon is often referred to as “Money Legos” because you can leverage different systems with one another to create complex financial products.

The past few years have also seen Ethereum’s NFT ecosystem flourishing. NFTs are basically uniquely identifiable objects living on the blockchain. These objects or “items” have their own unique properties and information embedded inside them. Early use cases saw simple images and art work tokenized as NFTs but innovation has expanded so that NFTs now include more robust game items with other on-chain values directly integrated into the NFTs.

In 2019 our team was the first to develop an ERC721 NFT that was staked with an ERC20 token. In that first iteration, Bullionix, we were binding DGX gold stable coins directly to uniquely identifiable NFT collectibles.

This is seen as the starting point for DeFi and NFTs coming together. Today we are seeing an explosion of exciting ways to enhance DeFi products with NFT tokens.

2、DeFi + NFT项目中，为什么选择MEME、Aavegotchi、Dego、Alpaca、Charged Particles 这5种项目来介绍？能否用1~2句话来介绍这5种项目？

MEME has popularized the idea of staking a token to earn points which can be converted into NFTs. By staking their token into their smart contract, users are rewarded by generating NFTs.

MEME已经普及了使用代币来赚取可转换为NFT积分的想法。通过将其代币放入智能合约中，可以通过生成NFT来奖励用户。

Aavegotchi are cute NFT collectible ghosts that actually have Aave’s interest generating DeFi tokens staked inside of them. This means you have DeFi-powered game characters that reward users with opportunities to claim generated yield, earn XP, and much more.

Aavegotchi是可爱的NFT可收集的幽灵，里面含有Aave可省利息的aTokens，从而产生了存在于其中的DeFi令牌。这意味着您拥有由DeFi驱动的游戏角色，这些游戏角色可以奖励用户获取产生的收益，获得XP以及更多。

Dego is the NFT incarnate of the “money legos” idea, and was the first project to use NFTs as power-ups for further NFT mining. In that way it’s quite innovative.

Alpaca is like Cryptokitties in that they can breed and produce offspring with bloodlines, but they also introduced some interesting incentives like burning low-value Alpacas or staking ALPA to get WOOL, which can be used to buy better Alpacas.

Similar in one respect to Aavegotchi, Charged Particles is one of the earliest projects to explore the idea of staking on-chain value ERC20 tokens directly to specific NFTs. Yield generated can be realized in visual ways, for example a game’s sword may become more powerful as more yield is accrued on the financial side.

Although technically only Aavegotchi and Charged Particles are pure “DeFi+NFT” projects in the sense that they involve DeFi tokens, I think the inclusion of MEME, Dego and Alpaca in this category makes sense because they also utilize common DeFi mechanisms like staking or farming.

Unlike the wave of 2017 ICOs, these projects, generally speaking, are building with much more existing on-chain value. DeFi allows a smaller project to leverage an interobable feature from elsewhere on the blockchain and incorporate it into their own platform’s experience. This means there is a lot of potential for value growth.

Like 2017 and any other time, the sustainability of these experiments hinges on the soundness of their project’s underlying tokenomics and the abilities and dedication of their leadership teams to community growth.

MEME, for example, started off completely as a joke and has evolved into a digital art powerhouse through sheer force of memetics. Strong staking incentives combined with valuable digital art and constant innovation helps MEME maintain its mind share in the NFT community.

ALPA is also experimenting with innovative mechanisms like recycling old Alpacas to get new ones, while simultaneously burning the ALPA token to induce deflationary pressure onto the token, which could help the price appreciate over time.

One problem many projects have is the developer team selling the protocol tokens to pay for expenses, which depreciates the price significantly. Aavegotchi does not have this problem because our development is funded by the DAICO bonding curve, which pays out in DAI, not our native token GHST. We can then use GHST earned from sales to fund various play-to-earn reward programs, and even burn a large portion of the revenue to induce deflationary pressure on the token.

For a project to succeed long-term, the project and the community need to figure out sustainable ways for paying the developers that don’t rely on them selling the native token.

MEME is more focused on the discovery and distribution of crypto art via staking MEME tokens, whereas Aavegotchi and Charged Particles are games actually incorporating DeFi tokens directly into their game’s characters and items.

MEME更专注于通过质押MEME令牌来发现和分发加密艺术，而Aavegotchi和Charged Particles是实际上将DeFi令牌直接整合到其游戏角色和物品中的游戏。

Besides staking DeFi tokens directly into NFTs, Aavegotchi also allows players to stake GHST tokens to enter Raffles where they can win NFT prizes.

Dego and Alpaca both also offer NFT mining mechanisms wherein users can stake tokens to earn NFTs.

Ethereum is famous for its composability, and going forward we will see much more closer integration between DeFi protocols and NFTs.

5、您如何评价这段时间NFT项目的市场表现？您觉得这样的市场表现背后原因是什么？

NFTs have had their own dedicated and growing community over the past couple years. The advent of dedicated marketplaces like OpenSea and Rarible were critical steps in the NFT space’s infrastructure. By the time DeFi was on fire in mid-2020, the NFT space was also mature enough to meet that energy and find ways to capture and even enhance the value being generated via DeFi protocols.

In general, 2020 has been a huge year for NFTs, and the growing integration between DeFi protocols such as Aave and Compound with NFTs, as well as new innovative distribution mechanisms of NFTs such as those used in these five projects all bode for an exciting and explosive 2021.

6、您挑选DeFi板块或者NFT板块项目时，投资原则有哪些？

The same as when I look at any other project. At the end of the day, you need dedicated and expert teams.. You need a track record of competency… and in addition to all that, you want to see a product that is built to last. By that, I mean you want to see NFTs that have consequences and leverage on-chain value to deliver real benefits and experiences that people will value, not just this week, but for years into the future.

I personally look for NFT projects that are not only innovating in the technology side, but also in their methods of community building. With Aavegotchi, we are empowering our players to be active by allowing them to earn rare NFT wearables for their Aavegotchi before Mainnet even launches.

NFTs, like any other crypto project, require a strong community to support them, so it’s important when evaluating crypto projects to see how active and engaged the community actually is, versus what their social numbers may display.

7、您认为未来DeFi的发展趋势是怎么样的？

DeFi has caught everyone’s attention and the TVL continues to grow. Surely it will ebb and flow, and we will see more expensive learning lessons as flash loans and hacks challenge this open finances attack vectors. But the trend is clearly toward more experimentation and therefore, more success.

NFTs will play a larger and larger role in making DeFi experiences that are not only profitable, but also approachable. That is the great advantage of a project like Aavegotchi where naive looking cartoons offer incredibly powerful DeFi mechanics under the surface.

I expect we will see a lot more emphasis on DeFi products that make it easy for new users to experience DeFi. We’ll also see more and more integration between platforms, as you can see lately with Yearn, Pickle, and SushiSwap. Interoperability is key, especially when you are trying to bridge such different worlds as DeFi and NFTs.
